Lakeland Surgical and Diagnostic Center is proud to announce that Orthopedic surgeon Douglas A. Shenkman, MD has achieved his Subspecialty Certification in Orthopedic Sports Medicine from the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery. This is the first year in which this distinguished level of achievement has been recognized.

Dr. Douglas A. Shenkman has been an Orthopedic surgeon with Watson Clinic for the past seven years, where he performs everything from minor sports-related injury care to major knee and shoulder reconstruction from his office at Watson Clinic's Main campus at 1600 Lakeland Hills Boulevard.

Dr. Shenkman received his medical degree from Tufts University School of Medicine in Boston. He performed his internship in General Surgery at St. Luke’s Medical Center in Cleveland, Ohio and completed his residency in Orthopedic Surgery from the Cleveland Clinic Foundation in Cleveland, Ohio. He then performed a Fellowship in Sports Medicine for the highly esteemed Dr. Thomas F. Winters in Orlando. He is a member of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons and is a Board Member in the Eastern Orthopedic Association. He has also served as a team physician for a variety of high school, college and professional-level sports teams over the course of his remarkable career.

Dr. Shenkman is also Board Certified in Orthopedic Surgery.
