TO: THOSE INDIVIDUALS ACCOMPANYING SURGICAL PATIENTS TO LSDC
Welcome to Lakeland Surgical and Diagnostic Center. The staff of LSDC strives to make the time you spend with us as pleasant as possible. If you have questions/concerns while at LSDC, please do not hesitate to ask any staff member for assistance.
Lakeland Surgical and Diagnostic Center has installed a standard wireless network with free "access points". If your computer is Wi-Fi enabled, you can connect to these access points to use internet during your visit.
Please be mindful that we have limited seating in our waiting room. There are no extra seats to accommodate more than two visitors per patient. Your adherence to this limitation would assist us to ensure there is enough seating for everyone.
Patient Information: On arrival to LSDC, you will be given a pager like those used in restaurants and asked for your completed patient health questionnaire form. The receptionist will page or call you by pager number to the registration area. After admission you will be taken to the pre-op area and visitors will be asked to wait in the lobby (exceptions are made for minors or special needs patients).Once pre-op preparation is complete, only OR patients will be given the opportunity to have an individual sit with you until the procedure team is ready.
Visitor Information: Once the patient is taken to the OR/procedure room, you will be asked to return to the lobby. Procedures take from 30 minutes to several hours, depending on the actual start time and type of procedure performed. If you become concerned, please feel free to inquire at the reception desk. A staff member will escort you to a conference room/recovery area when the procedure is complete. Sufficient recovery at minimum takes 30 minutes - 1 hour. The nurse will review discharge instructions with you and the patient, prior to patient transport and discharge.
The center offers free coffee in the lobby as well as vending machines for drinks and snacks. There are also restaurants nearby. The hospital next door also has a full restaurant on the first floor to the right of the lobby. If you obtain food and return to the center, please eat at the tables provided outside the main entrance in consideration of patients in the lobby who are not allowed to eat.
Please inform the receptionist and turn in your pager should you decide to leave the LSDC grounds. The receptionist will ask for your cell phone number in case we should need to contact you prior to your return.
As a courtesy to others, please step outside the building if you need to use your cell phone. Again, if you have questions during your time at the center, please do not hesitate to ask.
